Weekends are the only time we get from our busy lives to spend with friends, family and loved ones. A short trip near your city to relax in the serenity sounds like a dreamy weekend.

Below are a few destinations which are near Kolkata and can be visited even in time crunch. There are very famous destinations near Kolkata like Digha, Puri, and Darjeeling etc. which are not in the list, since I have curated the list by keeping in mind a getaway from crowd to soak in the tranquility.

    Bakkhali

Resting on the south western tip of Mystical Sundarbans, this tranquil beach is something you shouldn’t miss. 138 Kms from Kolkata, You can reach Bakkhali by road or by train as well. The best time to visit Bakkhali would be July to March. Henry’s Island, Jambu Dwip are special attractions of the place.

    Tajpur

It is one of the recent most discovered beach in the Kolkata- Digha route and is untouched by Tourism. It’s a 4 hour road Journey and visited from September to March.

    Shanti Niketan

One of the most culturally developed destination on India. Explore the Tagore museum, Art galleries to learn more about the artistic culture. The place is situated 160 Kms from Kolkata.

    Mandarmani

Situated in Kolkata – Digha Route, this pristine beauty names itself amongst the unspoiled beaches of India. You can sit in peace in the sea shore away from crowd and dissolve in its beauty.

    Kurseong

Though Darjeeling is the famous most getaway, Kurseong can be your perfect destination if you want a quiet, peaceful yet beautiful hill station to explore. One can call it a mini version of Darjeeling also called “Land of White Orchids”. Relish the mesmerizing beauty with an exciting toy train ride.

    Mayapur

Religious atmosphere and serenity from the busy atmosphere of cities is what Mayapur offers to the tourists. ISKCON temple, Ballal Mound and Tomb of Chand Kazi are a few attractions of the place. The place is 132 Kms from Kolkata city and is an ideal destination for all age groups, especially if you need to clear your mind or want to bring the positive energy into your life.
